3 PM or 9TH HOUR? What Time did Jesus Die?

A MUSLIM named Abdulgafoor B. Ahmad ACCUSED the Bible of having "CONTRADICTIONS" about the TIME when the LORD JESUS DIED.

He cited MARK 15:34 and MATTHEW 27:46 which ALLEGEDLY showed DIFFERENT TIMES when JESUS DIED.

AHMAD'S POST READS:

A. QUICK RESPONSE:

THERE is NO CONTRADICTION between "THREE in the afternoon" and the "NINTH hour." THEY are EQUIVALENT to EACH OTHER.

"NINTH hour" is the BIBLICAL/JEWISH PRESENTATION.

"THREE in the afternoon" is the EQUIVALENT of "NINTH hour" in the OUR TIME.

SOME TRANSLATIONS USE the JEWISH PRESENTATION = "NINTH hour," while others PRESENT the TIME according to the way we usually do it = "THREE in the afternoon."

THERE is NO CONTRADICTION, but ONLY a DIFFERENCE in PRESENTATION.

B. MUSLIM DECEPTION

I CHECKED SEVERAL FILIPINO VERSIONS or TRANSLATIONS of the VERSES and it APPEARS that the MUSLIM TRIED to FOOL US.

In the TRANSLATIONS, THERE WERE NO DIFFERENCES in the TIME, ONLY DIFFERENCES in PRESENTATION.

In the MAGANDANG BALITA BIBLIA (GOOD NEWS BIBLE), BOTH MARK 15:34 and MATTHEW 27:46 have "mag-IIKATLO ng hapon" or "about THREE in the afternoon."

In the ANG BIBLIA (THE BIBLE), BOTH VERSES have "oras na IKASIYAM" or "NINTH hour."

NONE of the FILIPINO VERSIONS have DIFFERENT TIMES in the TWO VERSES. It is either BOTH "THREE in the afternoon" or BOTH "NINTH hour."

In the VERSES GIVEN by the MUSLIM, HE had TWO DIFFERENT TIMES: Mark 15:34 = "IKATLO ng hapon" (THREE in the afternoon); Matthew 27:46 = "oras na IKASIYAM" (NINTH hour).

The MUSLIM appear to have DISTORTED the PRESENTATIONS to show a "CONTRADICTION."

MUSLIMS LOVE to ACCUSE the BIBLE of having been "CORRUPTED," but it seems MUSLIMS are the ONES CORRUPTING the BIBLE to DISCREDIT IT. =(

C. THREE in the afternoon = NINTH hour

We already noted that "THREE in the afternoon" and "NINTH hour" refer to ONE and the SAME TIME.

THESE are only DIFFERENCES in PRESENTATION and NOT CONTRADICTIONS.

The JEWS COUNTED HOURS of the DAY from SUNRISE (approximately 6 A.M.). So, ONE HOUR AFTER SUNRISE is the FIRST HOUR (7 A.M.) and SO ON.

Their SIXTH hour is 12 NOON in OUR TIME.

So, the NINTH hour for the JEWS is EQUIVALENT to our 3 P.M.

And THAT is WHY SOME TRANSLATIONS of MARK 15:34 and MATTHEW 27:46 have "NINTH hour" (after the JEWISH PRESENTATION) while some have "THREE in the afternoon" (following OUR PRESENTATION.).

NO CONTRADICTION.

D. MUSLIM IGNORANCE or DECEPTION?

This issue EXPOSES DISTURBING REALITIES about the ATTACKS being done by some MUSLIMS on the Bible.

One is the seeming IGNORANCE of MUSLIMS who use the DIFFERENCES in the PRESENTATION of TIME in Mark 15:34 and Matthew 27:46.

These MUSLIMS seem to NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT and yet they BLATANTLY DISPLAY their IGNORANCE as "KNOWLEDGE."

The other disturbing reality is the seeming DELIBERATE DISTORTION by KNOWLEDGEABLE MUSLIMS who only want to DECEIVE those who DO NOT KNOW the TRUTH.
