Quran: Book 'Sent Down' by Allah or Made by Man?

SOME MUSLIMS have been unrelenting in attacking the BIBLE and CHRISTIANS while claiming that the Quran is THE BOOK SENT DOWN by God to man.

Recently, some of these Muslims even used FAKE NEWS in making FALSE CLAIMS about the BIBLE.

As Catholics, we are taught to RESPECT the BELIEFS of OTHER RELIGIONS. As much as possible, we AVOID discussing other faiths.

However, the attacks by some MUSLIMS on the CATHOLIC CHURCH, the POPE and the BIBLE have forced us to RESPOND by EXPLAINING the CORRECTNESS of OUR CHRISTIAN FAITH and also EXAMINE their CLAIMS about their RELIGION.

+++

A. BOOK OF QURAN SENT DOWN BY ALLAH?

To belittle the Bible, some Muslims claim that the Quran is superior because it is the "Book sent down by Allah." In at least 25 verses, the Quran makes that claim.

In Quran 2:176, it says:

"That is because Allah has SENT DOWN THE BOOK (the QUR'AN) in truth. And verily, those who disputed as regards the book are far away in opposition."

Quran 3:3 states:

"It is He Who has SEND DOWN THE BOOK (the QUR'AN) to you (O MUHAMMAD صلى الله عليه وسلم) with truth, confirming what came before it. And He sent down the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel),"

Also, in Quran 4:136

"O you who believe! Believe in Allah, and His Messenger (MUHAMMAD صلى الله عليه وسلم), and THE BOOK (the QUR'AN) which He has SENT DOWN TO HIS MESSENGER, and the Scripture which He sent down to those before (him); and whosoever disbelieves in Allah, His Angels, His books, His Messengers, and the Last Day, then indeed he has strayed far away."

As such, some Muslims claim that the Quran is the "perfect" book that will do away with the Bible. (cf. 1Corinthians 13:10)

Their claim is contradicted by Islamic tradition, which shows that the BOOK of the Quran was NOT SENT DOWN.

How can Muslims claim that the Quran is "perfect" when many of its verses are CONTRADICTED by ISLAMIC TRADITION?

+++

B. ISLAMIC TRADITION SHOWS NO BOOK WAS SENT DOWN

Two Islamic traditions called hadith show that the BOOK of the QURAN was NOT SENT DOWN but was COMPILED, REWRITTEN and MADE INTO a BOOK by early Muslims.

In an earlier post here, it was written that one of the Islamic traditions called Hadith Sahih Bukhari 60:201 showed that NO BOOK was SENT DOWN to Muslims or to their prophet Muhammad.

In fact, Bukhari 60:201 clearly shows that THERE was NO BOOK of the QURAN when Islam's prophet died.

The absence of a book prompted a companion of Muhammad named Umar to ask the first caliph of Islam, Abu Bakr, to have bits and pieces of the Quran collected for fear that these would be lost.

The clearest proof given in Bukhari 60:201 that THERE WAS NO BOOK of the QURAN was the protestation of Abu Bakr to Umar's suggestion.

Abu Bakr told Umar, "How can I do something which ALLAH'S APOSTLE HAS NOT DONE?"

NOT EVEN MUHAMMAD COLLECTED or COMPILED the QURAN in WRITTEN FORM.

According to Islamic tradition, there was NO BOOK of the QURAN when Islam's prophet was still living, when he died and after he died.

BUKHARI 60:201 shows NO BOOK of the QURAN was SENT DOWN to HIM or to any Muslim -- CONTRARY to what Muslims say and what the QURAN CLAIMS.

So, how could anyone even say that the BOOK of the QURAN was "SENT DOWN" to MUHAMMAD?

+++

C. QURAN COMPILED; NO BOOK

In Sahih Hadith Bukhari 60:201, it is shown that a scribe named Zaid bin Thabit was ORDERED by Abu Bakr to COMPILE bits and pieces of the Quran.

After PROTESTING that ISLAM'S PROPHET NEVER even tried to COMPILED the QURAN, Bin Thabit started compiling scattered pieces of the Quran.

He found various pieces of the Quran "from parchments, scapula, leaf-stalks of date palms and from the memories of men (who knew it by heart)."

There was NO BOOK from which he copied the Quran.

Bin Thabit COLLECTED the pieces of the Quran and COMPILED THESE in a MANUSCRIPT.

Take note, it was just a MANUSCRIPT. It was NOT EVEN a BOOK.

Even at that time, THERE WAS still NO BOOK of the QURAN.

+++

D. BOOK OF QURAN WHEN DID IT APPEAR?

Islamic tradition shows that there was NO BOOK SENT DOWN when Islam's prophet was still alive, there was NO BOOK AFTER he died, there was even NO BOOK after the first leaders of Islam ordered the COMPILATION of bits and pieces of the Quran.

So, WHEN DID the BOOK of the QURAN come into existence?

According to ISLAMIC TRADITION, the BOOK of the QURAN was FINALLY MADE during the time of ISLAM'S THIRD CALIPH, UTHMAN.

Uthman ruled Islam starting 644 AD or 12 YEARS after MUHAMMAD DIED. Uthman died in 656 AD.

It was during UTHMAN'S 12-year reign that he ORDERED the MAKING of the BOOK of the QURAN, according to ISLAMIC TRADITION.

The making of the BOOK of the QURAN can be read in the ISLAMIC TRADITION in SAHIH AL-BUKHARI 61:510.

+++

E. ISLAMIC TRADITION

The TRADITION which MUSLIMS DECLARE are AUTHENTIC (SAHIH) can be read below. Verse numbers are provided for easier reading.

Sahih al-Bukhari Book 61 Hadith 510
1. Narrated Anas bin Malik: Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman came to Uthman at the time when the people of Sham and the people of Iraq were Waging war to conquer Arminya and Adharbijan.

2. Hudhaifa was afraid of their (the people of Sham and Iraq) DIFFERENCES IN THE RECITATION OF THE QUR'AN, so he said to 'Uthman, "O chief of the Believers! Save this nation before they differ about the Book (Quran) as Jews and the Christians did before."

3. So 'Uthman sent a message to Hafsa saying, "Send us the manuscripts of the Qur'an so that we may COMPILE the Qur'anic materials in perfect copies and return the manuscripts to you."

4. Hafsa sent it to 'Uthman. 'Uthman then ordered Zaid bin Thabit, 'Abdullah bin AzZubair, Said bin Al-As and 'AbdurRahman bin Harith bin Hisham to REWRITE the manuscripts in perfect copies.

5. 'Uthman said to the three Quraishi men, "In case you disagree with Zaid bin Thabit on any point in the Qur'an, then write it in the dialect of Quraish, the Qur'an was revealed in their tongue."

6. They did so, and when they had written many copies, 'Uthman returned the original manuscripts to Hafsa.

7. 'UTHMAN sent to every Muslim province one copy of what they had copied, and ORDERED that ALL the OTHER QUR'ANIC MATERIAL, whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies, BE BURNT.

8. Said bin Thabit added, "A Verse from Surat Ahzab was missed by me when we copied the Qur'an and I used to hear Allah's Apostle reciting it. So we searched for it and found it with Khuzaima bin Thabit Al-Ansari. (That Verse was): 'Among the Believers are men who have been true in their covenant with Allah.' (33.23)

+++

F. QUR'AN 'DIFFERENCES'

VERSE 2 of BUKHARI 61:510 above says there were already "DIFFERENCES IN THE RECITATION OF THE QUR'AN" during the time of UTHMAN.

In attacking and belittling the BIBLE, some MUSLIMS claim that the Christian holy book had many "differences" and "contradictions." They add that the QUR'AN never had any differences.

Bukhari 61:510 tends to disprove the claim of some Muslims that the Qur'an does not have differences.

The DIFFERENCES in the QUR'AN were exactly the reason why Uthman in VERSE 4 ordered the REWRITING of the MANUSCRIPT that was COLLECTED by ZAID BIN THABIT according to Bukhari 60:201.

+++

G. QUR'AN COMPILED

In verses 3 and 4, UTHMAN ORDERED that the MANUSCRIPT COMPILED by ZAID BIN THABIT be sent to him so that these could be "COMPILED" AGAIN.

This further tends to show the ABSENCE of a BOOK of the QURAN during the time of UTHMAN.

Had a BOOK of the QURAN been "SENT DOWN" to MUHAMMAD, there would have been NO NEED for BIN THABIT to COMPILE the QURAN and NO NEED for UTHMAN to COMPILE IT AGAIN.

ISLAMIC TRADITION again GOES AGAINST what some Muslims and what the QURAN CLAIM.

+++

H. 'PURE WORD OF GOD'

While ATTACKING the BIBLE, Some Muslims say that the CHRISTIAN HOLY BOOK is INFERIOR to the QURAN because the "QURAN is the PURE WORD of GOD."

However, Bukhari 61:510 again SHOWS OTHERWISE.

In verses 4 and 5, the ROLE of UTHMAN in the REWRITING of the QUR'AN is SHOWN.

In VERSE 5, UTHMAN ORDERED the people who were to REWRITE the QUR'AN to "WRITE in the DIALECT of QURAISH."

The verse says: "Uthman said to the three Quraishi men, 'In case you disagree with Zaid bin Thabit on any point in the Qur'an, then write it in the dialect of Quraish, the Qur'an was revealed in their tongue."

So, according to this ISLAMIC TRADITION, the QUR'AN was "REVEALED" and "REWRITTEN" in the DIALECT of the QURAISH.

No problem?

Unfortunately, questions arise.

+++

I. UTHMAN OVERRULES QUR'AN?

What right or authority did UTHMAN have to DICTATE HOW the BOOK of the QUR'AN should be REWRITTEN? WHO gave UTHMAN the AUTHORITY to SAY HOW ISLAM'S BOOK should be WRITTEN?

In verse 5, UTHMAN even OVERRULES the MANUSCRIPT of the QURAN that was gathered by BIN THABIT. UTHMAN ORDERS his men to "WRITE IT IN THE DIALECT of QURAISH." He also claimed that "the QUR'AN was REVEALED IN THEIR TONGUE."

In Quran 43:3, we can read this line: "Verily, we have made it a Qur'an in ARABIC that you may be able to understand."

Does that sound similar to the COMMAND of UTHMAN in Verse 5 of BUKHARI 61:510?

Curiously, the ORDER of UTHMAN to REWRITE the QUR-AN in QURAISH and the words of Quran 43:3 CONTRADICT the WORDS of MUHAMMAD in another HADITH.

In BUKHARI 41:601, MUHAMMAD says, "The Qur'an has been REVEALED in SEVEN DIFFERENT WAYS, so RECITE IT in the WAY that is easier for you."

In BUKHARI 54:442, it is made CLEAR that "WAY" means "DIALECT."

The HADITH quotes ISLAM'S PROPHET: "Gabriel read the QUR'AN to me in one way (i.e. DIALECT) and I continued asking him to READ IT in DIFFERENT WAYS till he READ IT in SEVEN DIFFERENT WAYS" or DIALECTS.

MUHAMMAD himself PROCLAIMS in BUKHARI 54:442 that the QUR'AN was "REVEALED" NOT ONLY in ONE WAY or DIALECT but in SEVEN DIALECTS.

So, on whose AUTHORITY did UTHMAN act in ORDERING the COMPOSING or REWRITING the QUR'AN in only ONE DIALECT?

WHO should people believe? UTHMAN who ORDERED the QUR'AN to be WRITTEN in ONE DIALECT (QURAISH) or MUHAMMAD who said the QUR'AN was "REVEALED" in "SEVEN DIALECTS"?

It is a matter MUSLIMS SHOULD DECIDE for THEMSELVES.

+++

J. UTHMAN BURNS QUR'ANIC MATERIALS

NOW, as if ORDERING the REWRITING of the QUR'AN was not enough, UTHMAN later COMMANDED the BURNING of ALL QUR'ANIC MATERIALS.

VERSE 7 of BUKHARI 61:510 says, UTHMAN "ORDERED that ALL the OTHER QUR'ANIC MATERIAL, whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies, BE BURNT."

The ONLY QUR'ANIC MATERIAL SPARED from BURNING was the MANUSCRIPT COMPILED by BIN THABIT, which was returned to HAFSA. (Verse 6)

This again indicates that, at that time, THERE WAS NO BOOK of the QUR'AN "SENT DOWN" from HEAVEN.

Had there been a BOOK SENT DOWN, it would have been BURNED by UTHMAN along with ALL the OTHER QUR'ANIC MATERIALS.

+++

K. WHERE WAS THE BOOK OF THE QUR'AN?

In the first place, HAD a BOOK been SENT DOWN to MUHAMMAD and to MUSLIMS, UTHMAN would NOT HAVE ORDERED the REWRITING of QUR'AN and COPIES of UTHMAN'S BOOK MADE.

UTHMAN should just have ORDERED the BOOK SENT DOWN to be COPIED and SENT to ALL MUSLIM.

But as shown by ISLAMIC TRADITION, THERE WAS NO BOOK SENT DOWN that UTHMAN could have copied.

Quran: Was The Book 'Sent Down' to Muhammad?

MUSLIMS who attack the Bible and Christianity claim that the Holy Book is man-made. They then claim that only the Quran is God's true word.

Muslim even boast that the QURAN was "NEVER ALTERED, NEVER CHANGED" from the time that Allah "SENT DOWN" THE BOOK to their prophet. They say, "NOT A LETTER" was added or removed from that time.

However, TWO HADITHS or EARLY TRADITIONS of ISLAM TELL a DIFFERENT STORY, which CONTRADICTS the claims of Muslims about the Quran.

+++

A. THE BOOK 'SENT DOWN'?

The Quran says in at least 25 verses that it was "THE BOOK" that was "SENT DOWN" by God to Islam's prophet and to mankind.

These three verses claim that Allah SENT DOWN THE BOOK to MUHAMMAD. Meaning, MUHAMMAD RECEIVED THE BOOK of the QURAN -- the SAME BOOK that MUSLIMS claim to POSSESS today.

But TWO AUTHETIC, or SAHIH, TRADITIONS of ISLAM tell us that THERE WAS NO BOOK of the QURAN even after their prophet died.

One of the Hadiths even say that Muhammad DID NOT EVEN COLLECT the DIFFERENT PARTS of the QURAN; and there WAS NO SINGLE MANUSCRIPT of the Quran, much less a BOOK to talk about.

+++

B. ISLAMIC TRADITION

A HADITH is an Islamic tradition related to their prophet Muhammad. It claims as its sources primarily Muhammad and then the early Muslims whose words or testimonies were orally transmitted then later collected by Islamic clerics.

The Hadith provides later generations, scholars and students a view of EARLY ISLAM -- from the time of Muhammad to several Islamic generations after him.

It is categorized into three: SAHIH or AUTHENTIC, HASAN or GOOD, and DA-IF or WEAK.

One AUTHENTIC HADITH is the collection made by IMAM MUHAMMAD AL-BUKHARI, who is well-known and highly accepted by Muslims, according to the Islamic website SUNNAH.COM.

And among the AUTHENTIC HADITHS is SAHIH HADITH BUKHARI 60:201.

+++

C. SAHIH HADITH BUKHARI 60:201 (numbering provided to facilitate reading)

1. Narrated Zaid bin Thabit Al-Ansari: who was one of those who used to write the Divine Revelation: Abu Bakr sent for me after the (heavy) casualties among the warriors (of the battle) of Yamama (where a great number of Qurra' were killed).

2. 'Umar was present with Abu Bakr who said, 'Umar has come to me and said, The people have suffered heavy casualties on the day of (the battle of) Yamama, and I am afraid that there will be more casualties among the Qurra' (those who know the Qur'an by heart) at other battle-fields, whereby a large part of the Qur'an may be lost, unless you collect it. And I am of the opinion that you should COLLECT THE QUR'AN."

3. Abu Bakr added, "I said to 'Umar, 'HOW CAN I DO SOMETHING which ALLAH'S APOSTLE HAS NOT DONE?'

4. 'Umar said (to me), 'By Allah, it is (really) a good thing.'

5. So 'Umar kept on pressing, trying to persuade me to accept his proposal, till Allah opened my bosom for it and I had the same opinion as 'Umar."

6. (Zaid bin Thabit added:) Umar was sitting with him (Abu Bakr) and was not speaking. me). "You are a wise young man and we do not suspect you (of telling lies or of forgetfulness): and you used to write the Divine Inspiration for Allah's Apostle. Therefore, LOOK FOR THE QUR'AN and COLLECT IT (IN ONE MANUSCRIPT).

7. "By Allah, if he (Abu Bakr) had ordered me to shift one of the mountains (from its place) it would not have been harder for me than what he had ordered me concerning the collection of the Qur'an. I said to both of them, "HOW DARE YOU DO A THING which THE PROPHET HAS NOT DONE?"

8. Abu Bakr said, "By Allah, it is (really) a good thing. So I kept on arguing with him about it till Allah opened my bosom for that which He had opened the bosoms of Abu Bakr and Umar.

9. So I started locating Quranic material and collecting it from parchments, scapula, leaf-stalks of date palms and from the memories of men (who knew it by heart).

10. I found with Khuzaima two Verses of Surat-at-Tauba which I had not found with anybody else, (and they were):-- "Verily there has come to you an Apostle (Muhammad) from amongst yourselves. It grieves him that you should receive any injury or difficulty He (Muhammad) is ardently anxious over you (to be rightly guided)" (9.128)

11. The manuscript on which the Quran was collected, remained with Abu Bakr till Allah took him unto Him, and then with 'Umar till Allah took him unto Him, and finally it remained with Hafsa, Umar's daughter.

+++

D. NO BOOK OF THE QURAN

The context of Bukhari 60:201 was AFTER THE DEATH of Islam's prophet in 632 AD. That's why Islam was already being led by ABU BAKR, the first Muslim caliph.

In No. 2 of BUKHARI 60:201, UMAR, a senior companion of Islam's prophet, approached Abu Bakr and expressed FEAR that "a large part of the Qur'an may be lost" because people "who knew the Quran by heart" were dying on the battlefield.

This is the first indication in the hadith that NO BOOK OF THE QURAN had been "SENT DOWN" to Islam's prophet as stated in the Quran.

Had THE BOOK of the QURAN been "SENT DOWN" to Muhammad, Umar would have had nothing to fear. They would just have to protect THE BOOK and have it copied (as another Muslim caliph would do later after ordering the REWRITING of the Quran).

The second indication that THE BOOK of the Quran was NOT SENT DOWN to Islam's prophet is UMAR WANTED ABU BAKR to "COLLECT THE QURAN."

Why would Umar demand the COLLECTION of the QURAN when THE BOOK was already "SENT DOWN" to Muhammad? Would the COLLECTION of the QURAN be BETTER than THE BOOK that was "SENT DOWN" to Islam's prophet?

Could it be that Umar wanted the Quran COLLECTED because THERE WAS NO BOOK of the Quran at that time? THE BOOK of the QURAN was NOT really SENT DOWN to Islam's prophet? THERE WAS NO BOOK SENT DOWN to MUSLIMS -- in CONTRAST to what the Quran says in several of its verses?

+++

E. NO SINGLE QURANIC MANUSCRIPT

Notice the reaction of Abu Bakr in No. 3, where he exclaims: "HOW CAN I DO SOMETHING which ALLAH'S APOSTLE HAS NOT DONE?"

WHAT?! Even Muhammad DID NOT HAVE the QURANIC "REVELATIONS" COLLECTED and WRITTEN in ONE MANUSCRIPT?

No wonder Abu Bakr PROTESTED. It would have made him appear BETTER than their prophet.

But then, Abu Bakr allowed Umar to CONVINCE him to do something that THEIR PROPHET DID NOT DO.

In the hadith, Abu Bakr claims that "Allah opened my bosom for it."

But doesn't that make it appear that ALLAH NEVER "OPENED THE BOSOM" of ISLAM'S PROPHET to COLLECT the QURAN into ONE MANUSCRIPT?

Did Abu Bakr claim to HAVE A BETTER "REVELATION" than WHAT THEIR PROPHET HAD?

+++

F. MUHAMMAD DID NOT DO IT

After ABU BAKR claimed that "Allah opened my bosom" to COLLECT the QURAN, he appointed a scribe named ZAID BIN THABIT to "COLLECT" the Quran and PUT IT in ONE MANUSCRIPT. (No. 6)

Zaid bin Thabit, who is described as Muhammad's "personal scribe," PROTESTED the ORDER of Abu Bakr.

In No. 7, we read Zaid bin Thabit's reaction: "HOW DARE YOU DO A THING which THE PROPHET HAS NOT DONE?"

As a scribe who "used to write the Divine Inspiration for Allah's Apostle (No. 6)," Zaid bin Thabit knew that Islam's prophet NEVER HAD the QURAN COLLECTED in ONE MANUSCRIPT.

The FACT that Muhammad had a SCRIBE to WRITE DOWN "Divine Inspiration" for Islam's prophet is another indication that THE BOOK of the QURAN was NOT "SENT DOWN" to HIM.

Why WRITE DOWN QURANIC "REVELATIONS" when THE BOOK had already been "SENT DOWN" to Islam's prophet?

Now, the FACT that Islam's prophet DID NOT COLLECT the QURANIC MATERIALS point to him NOT EVEN THINKING of HAVING IT IN ONE MANUSCRIPT or even ONE BOOK.

So, WHAT "BOOK" is the QURAN REFERRING TO when it says "THE BOOK" was "SENT DOWN" to Islam's prophet?

ABU BAKR, UMAR and ZAID BIN THABIT were NOT AWARE of "THE BOOK" of the QURAN when they were still alive.

Did Abu Bakr and Umar DECIDE to HAVE the QURAN COLLECTED precisely because there was NO BOOK of the QURAN that was "SENT DOWN" to their prophet?

Had there been THE BOOK of the QURAN that was "SENT DOWN" to Muhammad, Abu Bakr and Umar would have CONTRADICTED IT by having the QURAN COLLECTED, right?

+++

G. QURAN FINALLY COLLECTED IN ONE MANUSCRIPT

Despite his own protestations, ZAID BIN THABIT was CONVINCED by Abu Bakr to COLLECT the QURAN. He claimed that "Allah opened my bosom." (No. 8)

Like Abu Bakr, Zaid bin Thabit appear to have claimed that HE RECEIVED A REVELATION to COLLECT the QURAN -- something that ISLAM'S PROPHET DID NOT DO. (No. 7)

In No. 9, Zaid bin Thabit said, "I started locating Quranic material and collecting it from PARCHMENTS, SCAPULA, LEAF STALKS of DATE PALMS and from the MEMORIES OF MEN (who knew it by heart)."

It was only then that the Quran was COLLECTED in ONE MANUSCRIPT. (No. 11)

Those parts of Hadith Bukhari 60:201 are more indicators that THE BOOK of the QURAN was NOT "SENT DOWN" to Islam's prophet as stated by the Quran.

Why would early Muslims WRITE DOWN Quranic material on "parchments, scapula, leaf stalks" and have them in "the memories of men" if THE BOOK had already been "SENT DOWN" to Muhammad?

Why was there a need to COLLECT the Quranic materials if THE BOOK had already been SENT DOWN to MUSLIMS?

If the Quran is to be believed, Zaid bin Thabit should have just TAKEN THE BOOK of the QURAN that was "SENT DOWN" to Islam's prophet and COPIED IT. Right?

Why didn't Zaid bin Thabit just GET THE BOOK which the QURAN says was "SENT DOWN" to Islam's prophet? Is it because THERE WAS REALLY NO BOOK SENT DOWN to MUHAMMAD?

+++

H. THE BOOK SENT DOWN OR NOT?

Now, the questions arise about what to believe: Should the QURAN be believed that "ALLAH SENT DOWN THE BOOK" of the QURAN to ISLAM'S PROPHET?

Or should SAHIH HADITH BUKHARI 60:201 be believed pointing to the OPPOSITE of what the Quran is saying?

Can the QURAN and the HADITH be both telling the truth when they TELL OPPOSING CLAIMS pertaining to very CLEAR FACTS?

The DECISION now rests on the READER.

Quran: Where did The Book come from?

SOME Muslims have been attacking the BIBLE as "corrupt" while trying to promote the QURAN as "the word of God."

In our conversations with Muslims, they proved that the Quran is NOT the word of God. They claim that God -- Allah in Arabic -- NEVER SPOKE to any man, which includes their prophet, Muhammad. Therefore, it was NOT GOD who gave the Quran to Muslims.

Muslims claimed that it was "angel GABRIEL" (JIBRIL in Arabic) that "revealed" the Quran to ISLAM's prophet.
However, they failed to prove that "angel Gabriel" revealed the Quran to their prophet. Muslims were NOT ABLE to PRODUCE TWO WITNESSES, as required by the Quran, to prove their claim. Thus, the conclusion was that NO ANGEL REVEALED the QURAN.

Despite those facts, MUSLIMS insist that the QURAN "came from God" and that "THE BOOK" of the QURAN was "given by Allah" Himself to Muhammad.

So, the question arises: If God never gave the Quran to man and NO ANGEL revealed it to Islam's prophet, where did THE BOOK of the QURAN come from?

+++

From the Quran itself, in at least 25 verses, it says that God or Allah "SENT DOWN THE BOOK of the QURAN" to Islam's prophet and to mankind.

For example, Quran 3:3 says,
“It is He Who has sent down the book (the Qur'an) to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) with truth, confirming what came before it. And He sent down the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel).

And in Quran 39:41, we can read:
Verily, We have sent down to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) the book (this Qur'an) for mankind in truth. So whosoever accepts the guidance, it is only for his ownself, and whosoever goes astray, he goes astray only for his (own) loss. And you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are not a Wakil (trustee or disposer of affairs, or guardian) over them.So, the Quran says that THE BOOK of the QURAN "was SENT DOWN" from God and was GIVEN to Islam's prophet, Muhammad.

Is this true?

The HADITH or the TRADITION of ISLAM'S PROPHET DISAGREES.

+++

Two HADITHS, which show the early history of Islam and of the QURAN, relate how THE BOOK of Islam was COLLECTED, COMPILED, REWRITTEN and MADE INTO ONE BOOK.

These are SAHIH HADITH BUKHARI 60:201 and SAHIH HADITH BUKHARI 61:510.

The HADITHS DO NOT SHOW that THE BOOK of the QURAN was "SENT DOWN" from Allah, but REVEAL HOW THE BOOK was made by early Muslims.

You may READ these HADITHS by CLICKING on the LINK below:

QURAN: Islamic tradition reveals how The Book was made

QURAN: Islamic tradition reveals how The Book was made

SOME Muslims who are attacking the Bible and Christianity are showing interest in two HADITHS, or Islamic traditions.

One of the Muslims posted these Hadiths on our comments section.

These Hadiths narrate the EARLY HISTORY of the QURAN: how it was COLLECTED into ONE MANUSCRIPT then later REWRITTEN into ONE BOOK.

Allow me to post the HADITHS for our readers to see HOW THE QURAN was FORMED during the early years of ISLAM.

+++

First is HADITH SAHIH BUKHARI 60:201, which narrates how a companion of Islam's prophet, ZAID BIN THABIT, was ORDERED by ISLAM'S FIRST CALIPH, ABU BAKR, to COLLECT the QURAN into ONE MANUSCRIPT.

This HADITH shows that THERE WAS NO BOOK of the QURAN AFTER ISLAM'S PROPHET HAD DIED.

+++

Hadith Sahih Bukhari 60:201
Narrated Zaid bin Thabit Al-Ansari: who was one of those who used to write the Divine Revelation: Abu Bakr sent for me after the (heavy) casualties among the warriors (of the battle) of Yamama (where a great number of Qurra' were killed).

Abu Bakr added, "I said to 'Umar, 'HOW CAN I DO SOMETHING which ALLAH'S APOSTLE HAS NOT DONE?'

'Umar said (to me), 'By Allah, it is (really) a good thing.'

So 'Umar kept on pressing, trying to persuade me to accept his proposal, till Allah opened my bosom for it and I had the same opinion as 'Umar."

Abu Bakr said, "By Allah, it is (really) a good thing. So I kept on arguing with him about it till Allah opened my bosom for that which He had opened the bosoms of Abu Bakr and Umar.

So I started locating Quranic material and collecting it from parchments, scapula, leaf-stalks of date palms and from the memories of men (who knew it by heart).

The manuscript on which the Quran was collected, remained with Abu Bakr till Allah took him unto Him, and then with 'Umar till Allah took him unto Him, and finally it remained with Hafsa, Umar's daughter.

+++

This next HADITH is from SAHIH HADITH BUKHARI 61:510, which narrates how UTHMAN, the THIRD CALIPH of ISLAM ORDERED the REWRITING of the QURAN into ONE SINGLE COPY.

UTHMAN ORDERED that the PIECES of the QURAN COLLECTED by ZAID BIN THABIT in BUKHARI 60:201 be REWRITTEN -- and this REWRITTEN QURAN appear to be THE BOOK used by MUSLIMS TODAY.

+++

Sahih al-Bukhari Book 61 Hadith 510
Narrated Anas bin Malik:Hudhaifa bin Al-Yaman came to Uthman at the time when the people of Sham and the people of Iraq were Waging war to conquer Arminya and Adharbijan.

So 'Uthman sent a message to Hafsa saying, "Send us the manuscripts of the Qur'an so that we may COMPILE the Qur'anic materials in perfect copies and return the manuscripts to you."

Hafsa sent it to 'Uthman. 'Uthman then ordered Zaid bin Thabit, 'Abdullah bin AzZubair, Said bin Al-As and 'AbdurRahman bin Harith bin Hisham to REWRITE the manuscripts in perfect copies.

'Uthman said to the three Quraishi men, "In case you disagree with Zaid bin Thabit on any point in the Qur'an, then write it in the dialect of Quraish, the Qur'an was revealed in their tongue."

They did so, and when they had written many copies, 'Uthman returned the original manuscripts to Hafsa.

'UTHMAN sent to every Muslim province one copy of what they had copied, and ORDERED that ALL the OTHER QUR'ANIC MATERIAL, whether written in fragmentary manuscripts or whole copies, BE BURNT.

+++

+++

B. JIBRIL o GABRIEL?

CALL YOUR WITNESSES (supporters and helpers) besides Allah, if you are truthful.” […

At nakakatakot yan.

Lumalapat diyan ang sinabi ni Hesus sa Matthew 15:9: “in vain do they worship me, teaching human precepts as doctrines.'”

+++

Sinabi ng propeta nila na "That was GABRIEL who CAME TO TEACH THE PEOPLE their religion." [Iyon si GABRIEL na DUMATING PARA ITURO SA MGA TAO ang kanilang relihiyon.] Sahih Hadith Bukhari Book 2, Hadith 47

+++

"Until, when he reached the setting place of the sun, he found it setting in a spring of black muddy (or hot) water."

+++

"Although it is a common knowledge na ang araw dito sa Manila ay lumulubog sa DAGAT or sa MANILA BAY but then we know for facts na hindi talaga ito ang totoong nangyayari. yoon ay sa tingin lamang natin na ang ARAW dito sa MANILA ay lumulubog sa DAGAT or sa MANILA BAY. how much more if a Man living in that time or year 578 relate this incident of a sun set?"

+++
